Ninja markets it as 8-in-1: air fry, air roast, air broil, bake, bagel, toast, dehydrate and keep warm. It is finished in what Ninja calls piano shiny black, has a dropdown door and knob controls, and comes with a wire rack, a sheet pan and an air fry basket.
The feature that sets it apart from every other oven in the category is the hinge. When it is not in use the whole unit flips up and back against the backsplash, standing vertically instead of occupying its full footprint. Ninja gives the capacity in the terms that matter for this class of appliance: a 13 inch pizza, up to nine slices of toast, and air frying up to four pounds of food. Nine slices is a large toasting area for a countertop oven, and a 13 inch pizza means a full size frozen pizza does not need cutting to fit.
The power rating is 1800 watts, which is at the top of what a standard North American kitchen circuit will comfortably carry from a single appliance. That wattage is also the basis for Ninja’s 60 second preheat claim. Sixty seconds is fast, and it is credible for a small cavity with 1800 watts behind it, though Ninja does not state which temperature the claim applies to. Preheating to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and preheating to 200 are not the same job.
The eight functions divide roughly into three groups. Air fry, air roast and air broil all use the convection fan at different intensities. Bake, bagel and toast are conventional oven and toaster functions. Dehydrate and keep warm are low temperature holds. Dehydrate is the one that surprises people: it runs the fan at a low temperature for hours to dry fruit, herbs or jerky, and it is genuinely useful in an oven that is otherwise sized for weeknight cooking.
Footprint, cleaning and the specification muddle
Published dimensions are 19.72 inches deep by 14.96 inches wide by 7.56 inches high, and the item weight is 10.12 pounds. A separate size field gives 19.7 by 7.6 by 15 inches, the same three numbers in a different order, which is confusing rather than contradictory. What matters practically is that the unit is nearly 20 inches in one direction and under 8 inches in another, and that the short dimension becomes the depth once it is flipped up against the wall.
Ten pounds is light for an oven of this size, which is what makes the flip mechanism workable. It also means the unit is easy to reposition, and easy to knock, so the cord run matters.
Cleaning is handled by a crumb tray and an accessible back panel. The back panel access is a better feature than it sounds, because grease and crumbs collecting behind the heating elements are the usual reason a countertop oven starts smelling burnt.
One attribute is simply wrong. The power source field reads AC adapter. An 1800 watt oven does not run from an adapter; it is a corded appliance plugged directly into a wall outlet, and the listing separately records a three foot cable length.
